Liberia Airport

The Liberia International Airport is where most people coming to visit Costa Rica begin their trip.

This is the second biggest airport in the country and has gained a reputation for being the airport of choice for tourists specifically because of the accessibility of all the attractions and destinations around it.

The airport is also called the Daniel Oduber Quiros International Airport, named in honor of the former president of Costa Rica who envisioned creating an airport in Guanacaste and who supported the development of the area.

Arriving at the Airport

The Liberia International Airport is located in Liberia, which is the Guanacaste Province. It is about 200 kilometers northwest of the capital of Costa Rica, San Jose.

San Jose has the other major airport in the country, so your choice between these two destinations should be made depending on which sights and locations you wish to see.

The airport in Liberia is perfect for all the northern destinations in Costa Rica, from the beautiful national parks to the scenic and famous Costa Rica beaches.

This airport is situated perfectly to reach locations such as Tamarindo, Playa Negra, Golfo de Papagayo, Playa Grande, Playa Flamingo, Playa Hermosa and the Marino Las Baulas National Park.

Additionally, the airport also allows you to catch any number of domestic flights or charter planes to reach anywhere in the entire country.

Airport Amenities

The Liberia International Airport offers full amenities so you can refresh yourself before stepping foot on the Costa Rica sands.

The building has paramedical services, fueling services, technical services, a fire department, and luggage handling services, so you have nothing to worry about.

Additionally, there are other services to help you make the most of your vacation, including an ATM, a bank to change you money, restrooms of course, and even a restaurant and snack bar right on the air port premises.

The airport is designed to allow you to make the most of your tropical trip right from the moment your plane touches down.
